Norwegian Hull Club

In May 2020 I started a conversation with Norwegian Hull Club- a leading marine insurance company. about creating a mural for their new office. This would be the first thing to greet customers and employees as they entered the building.

We wanted to show the rich history of the company in Bergen where the humble beginnings of NHC took shape.

I decided to use a timeline as the base of the mural; where at the start of the line i worked in Michael Krohn the founder of what came to be NHC and the shipyard BergenMekaniskeVerksted below him.
The steamboat depicted was delivered to: De Stavangerske Dampskibselsskab by BMV and was number 15 made at the BMV.
The wave and the surfer, describes thoughts on the future, how to manage risks and stand strong in the face of danger.
Windmills and the grid are also a nod to the future, in regards to ship tracking and cooperation and communication as well as solutions for a brighter and better tomorrow.
The choice of color is meant to reflect the company. The blue represents strength and resolve, while the red is to reflect the risk and respect you need to have for the ocean and your surroundings.

Thank you to everyone involved in making this project happen.
